Missouri Farms

Markets/Policy:

For over two decades, this project area has focused on providing      objective quantitative analysis of agricultural policy alternatives. This
analysis is accomplished by using complex mathematical models of the      crop and livestock sectors in agriculture. Beyond the sector analysis,      information is generated regarding farm income, government costs      related to agriculture and consumer food costs. This analytical tool has      been quoted extensively during U.S. farm bill debates. Additionally, this      area has been responsible for providing economic analysis of      environmental regulation changes and changes in regulations related      to river navigation.

Missouri Farms:

Established in 1996, this project area focuses on economic issues that      apply specifically to Missouri farms, rather than the global or national      agricultural sector. Recognizing the diversity of farms in Missouri, it      discovers and clarifies how changes will affect particular kinds of      farming operations. At the heart of this project are the 200 plus      farmers from across the state who provide a detailed picture of real-      world conditions in their area. The Missouri project is conducted in      partnership with researchers at Texas A&M University.
